We have chosen the Alzheimer’s Society as a charity that is very close to our hearts. All of our fundraising is on their behalf, to support people with dementia. There are nearly 10 million cases of dementia diagnosed every year worldwide, and it is a major cause of disability and dependency among older people.
What we love about the Alzheimer’s Society is their local services; over 3000 services are offered directly to people who would benefit from them across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These are people with dementia, but also to the people that support them in the form of their families, friends and carers.
It is often the carers, friends and families that feel the most alone when looking after a loved one with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society provides local support groups and networks to ensure that support is given to both sides; the carer and the cared for.
For National Christmas Jumper day this Friday 13th December, we are proud that our donations will all be going to further the work of this remarkable charity.
